Getting Started / Crawling Your App

Crawling Your App

Use the Zero Docs Chrome Extension to crawl your app directly from the browser. This is particularly useful for crawling authenticated or interactive application screens that aren't accessible via public URLs.

Step 1: Install the Chrome Extension

Install the Zero Docs Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store.

Step 2: Locate your Project ID

Your Project ID is displayed in the "Crawl Your App" section of your project dashboard. For example:

Project ID: zero-docs

You'll need this ID to connect the extension to your project.

Step 3: Configure the extension

  1. Open the Zero Docs Chrome Extension
  2. Enter your Project ID in the provided field
  3. Select your crawl scope to define which pages should be captured

Step 4: Start crawling

Click Connect to begin crawling. The extension will capture page content as you navigate through your application.

How it works

The Chrome Extension captures application screens and content directly from your browser session, including authenticated areas that wouldn't be accessible through standard URL crawling. This allows you to build comprehensive documentation and knowledge for apps that require login or complex navigation flows.

Next steps

After crawling your app, you can monitor processing status and view the captured observations. See Monitoring Processing Status for details.
