Resetting Agent Session

The Reset Admin Agent Session function clears your conversation history with the admin chat agent. This is separate from the widget history clearing available on the test page—it specifically resets the admin-level agent session.

When to Reset Your Session

Reset your admin agent session when you want to:

  • Start a fresh conversation with no context from previous messages
  • Test how the agent responds to first-time interactions
  • Clear testing or debugging conversations from your admin history

Step 1: Navigate to the Reset Page

  1. From your project sidebar, expand the Chat Agent section
  2. Click Reset

Step 2: Select a Version

Use the version dropdown to choose which version's admin session to reset:

  1. Click the version selector (displays v1 by default)
  2. Select the version you want to reset

Each version maintains its own conversation history, so you can reset sessions independently.

Step 3: Reset the Session

  1. Review the explanation: "Clears the conversation history with your admin agent. The agent will start fresh with no memory of previous messages."
  2. Click the Reset Admin Session button
  3. The status area will confirm the reset

After resetting, any new conversation with the admin agent will start from scratch with no memory of previous interactions.

What Gets Reset

  • Conversation history: All previous messages are cleared
  • Agent memory: The agent forgets context from earlier in the conversation
  • Session state: The agent returns to its initial greeting state

What Doesn't Get Reset

  • Widget history for end users: This only affects your admin session, not user-facing widgets
  • Source content: The knowledge base remains unchanged
  • Chat logs: Historical conversations remain visible in the Chats page for record-keeping
