Multiple-Accommodation Toilet Room Layout

Multiple-accommodation toilet rooms must provide adequate clear space for maneuvering and turning:

FLOOR PLAN REQUIREMENTS:

- 60" min. overall width
- 60" min. depth
- 60" min. diameter clear turning space
- 30" x 48" clear space at fixtures
- 24" min. grab bar spacing
- 36" min. grab bar length
- 42" min. grab bar length
- 34" min. clear aisle width
- 32" min. clear entrance width
- 44" min. clear space depth
- Flush activator on wide side
- 60" x 60" level and clear entry area

Toilet Accessories Mounting

All toilet accessories must be mounted at a maximum height of 40" above the finished floor:

Accessories (mounted at max. 40" height):

  • TOWELS & NAPKINS dispenser
  • WASTE receptacle
  • TOWELS dispenser
  • DRYER
  • SANITARY NAPKIN dispenser
  • CUPS dispenser

Urinals

Specification Requirement
Side clearance from wall 14" min.
Required clear space 48" min. depth x 30" width
Clear width in front of fixture 30"

Lavatories

Side Elevation Requirements

Element Specification
Knee clearance 8" min. at 27" min. height
Toe clearance extension 6" max.
Depth under lavatory 17" min.
Rim height 29" min. to 34" max.

Plan View Requirements

Element Specification
Width 30" min.
Depth 19" max.
Clear floor space depth 48" min.
Clear depth under fixture 17" min.
Distance to centerline from wall 18" min.

Note: If a minimum 9 inches height of toe clearance is provided, a maximum of 6 inches of the 48 inches of clear floor space required at the fixture may extend into the toe space.
