Bathing and Toilet Facilities - General Requirements
All sanitary facilities that serve buildings, facilities or portion of buildings that are required by handicapped regulations to be accessible to persons with disabilities shall comply. Separate facilities are required where provided for the non disabled. Where unisex facilities are provided for the non disabled, such unisex facilities shall be provided for persons with disabilities. Where facilities are to be used solely by small children, the specific heights may be adjusted to meet their accessibility needs.
Toilet Room Fixtures and Accessories: Basic Requirements

The following specifications apply to single-accommodation (single-user) toilet facilities:
PLAN VIEW REQUIREMENTS:
- 18" min. centerline of fixture to wall
- 60" min. clear turning diameter
- 28" to edge of water closet
- 32" min. clear maneuvering space
- 18" min. to 32" min. clear space dimensions
- Flush activator on wide side
- 36" min. grab bar and 42" min. grab bar locations
Accessible Water Closet Compartment Within Multiple-Accommodation Facility
When accessible compartments are provided within multiple-accommodation toilet rooms:
PLAN VIEW REQUIREMENTS:
- 18" min. centerline to wall
- 32" min. to edge of water closet
- 60" min. clear turning space
- Flush activator on wide side
Side Elevation Requirements
VERTICAL CLEARANCES AND MOUNTING:
- 36" min grab bar
- 42" min grab bar
- All dispensers set back to prevent obstruction
- 17" - 19" A.F.F. (above finished floor) water closet height
